The Colour Room scoops top award in British Hairdressing Business Awards

The Colour Room team celebrated in style as they scooped a top national award for Customer Care in the British Hairdressing Business Awards 2009, at a star-studded ceremony at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London.  Beating some of the biggest names in the hairdressing industry, the salon was judged by the cream of British hairdressing as being the leaders in the UK when it comes to caring for their clients and the quality of service they provide.

Presented by Hairdressers Journal International, the British Hairdressing Business Awards are now in their 11th year and were initiated to specifically recognise and celebrate the business success and professionalism of the hairdressing industry.  There are thirteen categories within the awards, ranging from the Customer Care Award to the Salon of the Year Award (for which The Colour Room was also finalised), which celebrate the entrepreneurial expertise of the UK’s leading hairdressers.

To enter the awards, salons or individuals have to fulfil the exacting criteria set down and present this in a dossier, which is judged by a team of industry experts from the sponsoring companies of the various categories.  Six finalists are then chosen and judged by an independent panel of judges including industry experts, business journalists and financial specialists.

The Colour Room competed against six other salons in the Customer Care category at the glittering final hosted by media favourite and “Dancing on Ice” competitor Michael Underwood.  Salon owners Sean Tetlow and Claire Smith were delighted when he announced their name as the winner.

Claire exclaimed: “2009 has been an absolutely incredible year for The Colour Room, and to be recognised amongst your peers for outstanding customer care is a wonderful feeling.  This is what the whole salon experience is about, looking and feeling fantastic.  The win will create a real buzz amongst our team and our clients, and is a fantastic achievement and honour.”

Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of Hairdressers Journal International, Jayne Lewis-Orr commented, “Entries were alive with innovation, enthusiasm and entrepreneurial expertise showing amazing skills across the breadth of business management. Hairdressing is definitely an industry that is holding up well in the recession. The judges had an extremely difficult job as standards were so high – to be chosen as a winner at the British Hairdressing Business Awards is a tremendous testimony to The Colour Room.”
